Landscape architecture projects are handled by an expert in-house team, led by Lethogonolo Gaolekwe and Johannes Westra. Letho holds a BA(Hons) in Landscape Architecture from Kingston University in London, and Johannes holds a Landscape Design diploma from the University of Guelph, Canada.
The Loci landscape team approaches each project holistically, being continually supported by Loci environmental consultants in our efforts to ensure that environmental sustainability and compliance remains a top priority throughout all projects.
Loci is PPADB registered in Botswana under code 01, sub code 04 – Landscape Architecture.
Our in-house specialist consulting abilities include work within the aesthetic environment parameter of environmental science. Landscape and visual assessment as a stand-alone study or as part of an EIA, is one area of expertise that is seldom offered in environmental consultancies at present.
Jill Westra is a Director of Loci Environmental, and a specialist in the field of Landscape and Visual Assessment. Qualified as an Environmental Scientist (MSc) and Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Jill has carried out a variety of Landscape Character and Visual Impact assessments for a wide range of EIA studies including roads, bridges, and industrial developments. She has also been called as an expert witness for oral hearing testimony in the field of landscape and visual assessment before An Bord Pleanála, Republic of Ireland.
Our methodologies used in assessing landscape character, visual amenity, and the potential impacts upon these elements of the environment are in line with European and UK guidance in a field that is currently developing in southern Africa.
Loci can provide Visual Envelope Mapping and Landscape Character Assessments as part of our complete landscape and visual amenity studies. These tools have proven to be useful in the development of large infrastructure projects such as power lines, road projects, and light pollution in urban development.
